Date Day in Atlanta: 5 Romantic Things To Do

April 12, 2023 By CityPASS

Are you looking for romantic things to do in Atlanta, Georgia? You may have already investigated some fun date night ideas, but what about going out during the day and spending some time together? Atlanta offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy quality time with your special someone while the sun's out. So, let's discover romantic things to do in Atlanta during the day.

Top Romantic Activities in Atlanta for the Perfect Date Day

There is so much to do in Atlanta that it can be overwhelming to decide where to go, so here are a few options to help you narrow things down.

Go Museum Hopping at Renowned Locations

The High Museum of Art is a lovely place to spend time together. If you go on the second Sunday of the month, you can even see the museum for free. You'll want to check out the Doris and Shouky Shaheen Collection, which features French works of art from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

Or you can also explore the National Center for Civil and Human Rights and learn all about the history of the civil rights movement in Atlanta.

Hop over to Sandy Springs to visit the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum. You can treat your date to an escape from the city while learning about the history of Sandy Springs. But there's more than just an old farmhouse stuffed with historical memorabilia; there's also a natural spring and a garden to stroll through while enjoying the peaceful scenery.

If your date loves to learn about history, the Fernbank Museum of Natural History is a great place to learn about the Mesozoic era. Walk through their star gallery and appreciate the cosmos with higher fidelity than is possible with the naked eye.

Bond Over a Love of Sports at the College Football Hall of Fame

The Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in downtown Atlanta is a perfect date spot for sports lovers. As soon as you walk in, you'll see helmets from every college in America, and that's just the beginning. With over 50 different interactive exhibits throughout the museum, you'll find plenty to do. There's even a 45-yard indoor field and, on the second floor, fight song karaoke.

Encounter Exotic Animals at the Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta

How about embarking on an aquarium animal encounter experience? The Georgia Aquarium provides animal encounter experiences that allow guests to interact with the animals up close and personal. You and your sweetheart can go swimming with a whale shark at the Georgia Aquarium. Other experiences include encounters with sea lions, dolphins, penguins, and even sharks.

Water isn't for everyone, though. If you want to have an animal encounter on dry land, why not head to the zoo? You can visit Grant Park and discover wild animals from behind the scenes at Zoo Atlanta. Zoo Atlanta offers various "Wild Encounters" packages, too, providing the opportunity to spend quality time with lemurs, pandas, elephants, and many other species of animals. These encounters include opportunities not only to see the animals up close, but often to pet and even feed them.

While the zoo is always great for the whole family, they also have adult-only events toward the end of the summer. One is called "Sippin Safari," where you can have a couple of glasses of wine at the zoo. "Savanna Nights" is on select Fridays in the summer when you can have some drinks at the zoo in the evening. Better still, the money you spend on tickets goes to conservation efforts for animals all over the world.

Experience a Soda-Testing Extravaganza at the World of Coca-Cola

The World of Coca-Cola is a museum in Atlanta that sits on 20 acres of land. You and your date can learn about the history of the yummy Coca-Cola beverage and get your picture taken with the Coca-Cola polar bear.

You can also create your very own Coke bottle at the interactive "My Coke Art" exhibit, see the bottling plant at work, and even go inside the vault to learn about the top-secret Coke formula. Haven't you ever wondered about the secret recipe for Coca-Cola that makes it taste so great?

If you are feeling nostalgic, there's a loft where you can see old signs and other historical Coca-Cola memorabilia from all over the world. Before you leave, be sure to stop in the tasting area and try one of over 100 different Coke flavors — there's a lot more to this classic drink than what's available at the local grocery store.

Share a Delicious, Romantic Meal at a Top Brunch Spot

For brunch, make your way to Krog Street Market, one of Atlanta's most famous historic districts. Krog Street is packed with varied and exciting brunch options to satisfy any craving. With more than 20 restaurants, you could even create your own mini Atlanta food tour.

The local seafood at Watchmen, in particular, is not to be missed. If you're craving something distinctly Southern, Soul food & Culture has you covered.
