The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Met Holiday Mondays

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced the schedule for the next six Met Holiday Mondays—extra public viewing days that take place on the Mondays of major holiday weekends, when historically the Museum has been closed. A different selection of exhibitions will be open on each Met Holiday Monday. The Metropolitan's public cafeteria and several of the gift shops in the main building will be open on all of these special viewing days.

"In difficult economic times such as these, when it is good to remind ourselves of the uplifting and spiritually restorative powers of art, we are pleased to be able to offer Met Holiday Mondays—one of our very popular programs—for another year, " commented Emily K. Rafferty, President of the Metropolitan Museum. "Since the program was instituted in fall 2003, more than 400,000 people have enjoyed these additional opportunities to view splendid works of art at the Met."

The schedule of 2009–2010 Met Holiday Mondays include: Labor Day (September 7, 2009), Columbus Day (October 12, 2009), the Monday after Christmas (December 28, 2009), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 18, 2010), Presidents’ Day (February 15, 2010), and Memorial Day (May 31, 2010).

Please note: Holiday Mondays are for the Metropolitan Museum’s main building only, and not The Cloisters.
