Dallas Zoo

Go on an urban safari at Giants of the Savanna, where you can witness elephants, giraffes and other African animals interact in a natural grasslands setting. Feed a giraffe, watch a predator demo, and discover over 2,000 fascinating animals that call the Dallas Zoo home.

Dallas CityPASS includes:

General Admission — Entry includes all animal exhibits and daily keeper chats. (Zoo Lights is not included.)

Giants of the Savanna is a highly acclaimed multi-species exhibit.

The Dallas Zoo was the first in the U.S. to combine elephants with zebras, giraffes, impalas, ostriches and guinea fowl in the same habitat, just as they would be found in the wild.

Highlights

  1. 01.

Get ready to explore 106 acres – the Dallas Zoo is the largest zoological park in Texas.

  2. 02.

Go on Safari at the Giants of the Savanna exhibit and enjoy an interactive experience built around the different species of animals that call the savanna home: elephants, giraffes, kudus, ostriches, lions, warthogs, guinea fowl, and cheetahs. This is the only exhibit in North America where you’ll see giraffes and elephants together!

  3. 03.

Splash in a stream and feed birds at the award-winning Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo, featuring educational and interactive exhibits that connect families with nature.

The Dallas Zoo’s herd consists of eight female and two male African elephants – one of which was born at the Zoo in May 2016.

Tigers are primarily solitary creatures and their striped coats provide excellent camouflage among the tall grasses and forests of their habitats.

Advice for Visitors

Tips

Best Time to Visit

During hot weather, many of the animals are inactive during the afternoon, preferring to hide in shady areas to avoid the sun. Plan on arriving first thing in the morning to enjoy the most animal activity.

Learn more about your favorite Dallas Zoo animals from the zoologists who care for them at the Zoo's daily Keeper Chats! Check the schedule before you visit.

The Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo features a wading stream, so pack towels and/or a bathing suit for your children. (Swim diapers are required for toddlers.)
