EMP Museum Building Exterior

The seattle landmark's colorful, curving building design, by Frank O. Gehry, was inspired by a shattered Fender Stratocaster guitar.
Seattle’s monorail operates between Seattle Center and downtown Seattle. The monorail travels right through EMP to tantalize commuters and visitors alike.
Experience Music Project (EMP)
Experience Music Project (EMP), was named for the band made famous by Seattle native Jimi Hendrix. EMP is dedicated to exploring the intersections of creativity and innovation in music.
Explore rock ‘n’ roll roots in jazz, soul, gospel, country and the blues. Note its influence on hip-hop, punk and other recent genres. Listen to musicians tell their own stories.
Science Fiction Museum (SFM)
The Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (SFM) is devoted to the provocative ideas and experiences of sci-fi.
It’s big fun. The entire planet is crazy about Star Wars, Star Trek and old black-and-white television shows about aliens and outer space. Inside SFM, you’ll have a ball with sci-fi memorabilia, movie costumes, pieces of sets, photos, and hands-on exhibits.
On Stage at EMP
Tear it up “On Stage.” You’ll be in the bright lights, on-stage for a virtual concert experience, in front of screaming fans.
If you want to remember your minute in the spotlight forever, you can purchase a poster or DVD of your performance.
Jimi Hendrix, the Inspiration for EMP
Jimi Hendrix, Seattle native, was the inspiration for EMP. The place is named for his band. Traces of the Hendrix experience thread throughout the museum. Watch an interview with him in Sound and Vision: Artists Tell Their Stories. He regales us with stories of his early bands in Northwest Passage, and rocks out his unforgettable hit, Purple Haze, in On Stage.
You can also examine the remains of Jimi Hendrix’s ’52 Fender Stratocaster, famously smashed and burned at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival.
IF VI WAS IX: Roots and Branches (EMP)
That’s the name of this interactive EMP sculpture created by Seattle artist Trimpin. It’s made of more than 700 instruments, and spirals up to the roofline.
Sky Church at EMP
Sky Church is the central hall of the museum where visitors can watch music performances and light shows on the world's largest indoor video screen.
Sound Lab at EMP
The Sound Lab is an outlet for your inner rock star. Record a CD. Experiment on guitar, bass, keyboards or drums. Grab the sticks at Jam-O-Drum.

The Seattle CityPASS is a great way to explore the city if you are visiting for the first time. My good buddy Torin and I njoyed checking out the city attractions that make Seattle so amazing. The Harbour cruise pier is right next to the Seattle Aquarium. The Space Needle is next door to the EMP Museum. The close distance between each site makes it convenient to visit multiple places in one day. The CityPASS definitely made my vacation a memorable one.

Seattle excellent citypass
posted by Varihan on May-13-2012
I highly recommend Seattle citypass to visitors. We saved a great deal with it. We also used every ticket in the CityPASS over a 3day visit to Seattle and enjoyed every activity. The Argosy boat ride was worth the money. We found the Science Centre a little run down and out dated but enjoyed the IMAX movie there. Seattle Citypass gave us an opportunity to see the main attractions
Excellent Value!

We used every ticket in the CityPASS over a 4 day visit to Seattle and enjoyed every activity. The up-grade on the Argosy boat ride to the Tillicum Village tour was well worth the extra money. We found the Science Centre a little run down and out dated but enjoyed the IMAX movie there. We would highly recommend the CityPASS especially to first time visitors to Seattle. It gave us an opportunity to see the main attractions.
