Seattle’s Argosy Christmas Ship Festival and Parade – Slip into the holiday spirit with this nautical Northwest tradition

Argosy Christmas Ship

Calling all seagoing Santas! Seattle’s annual Argosy Christmas Ship Festival and Parade — an Emerald City tradition for the past 61 years — is about to set sail.

And while it’s fun to gather around a shoreline bonfire to watch the parade sail by, it’s even better to be aboard the lead vessel: the Argosy Cruises Christmas Ship (aka Spirit of Seattle). During each Christmas cruise, the Spirit of Seattle showcases a local choir singing 20-minute programs that coincide with the ship reaching scheduled onshore viewing locations. The featured choir’s onboard performance is broadcast over state-of-the-art speakers, allowing landlubbing spectators to join in the festivities. These shoreline sing-alongs are the perfect seasonal outing for families and friends on a budget.

Onboard, there’s lots of fun between performances too. Santa mingles with guests, spreading cheer, while a children’s activity corner keeps the kids in excellent holiday spirits.

The cruises, two to three hours in length, range from $25 to $99 for adults, $10 to $39 for children. Children age 4 and younger are free. For the best deals, peruse the schedule for value nights, family dinner buffets with Santa and Santa brunch buffets.

Argosy’s festivities kickoff with discount preview nights on November 27 and 28; regular cruises go nightly Dec. 1-23. The Spirit of Seattle, leading a flotilla of hundreds of decked-out boats with twinkling lights, launches from various sites, including Seattle’s historic downtown waterfront near the Seattle Aquarium. Making up the festive flotilla are private boats and other Argosy ships offering public cruises and various holiday activities. Check Argosy’s website for specific offerings, schedules, prices, and boarding details, or call (888) 623-1445.
