Jellies Mesmerize at Shedd Aquarium
The tiniest sea jelly could nestle into a contact lens, while the largest couldn't squeeze into a minivan. A jelly can devour enough food to double its weight each day, and sea nettles hunt by trailing their long stinging tentacles to paralyze prey upon contact. And they do it all without blood, bones, or brains.
You’ll learn all of these interesting facts, and more, as you enter the mesmerizing world of jellies at Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, where your hosts are spectacular creatures—some beautiful, some mysterious, but every one of them fascinating.
In Shedd’s special exhibit, Jellies, discover the intriguing ways these pulsing, translucent animals survive—and thrive—in the world’s oceans.
On Earth for millions of years, but at Shedd for only a limited time! Jellies runs through May 28, 2012. Shedd Aquarium is one of five attractions in Chicago CityPASS, along with The Field Museum, Skydeck Chicago; and a choice of: Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago or 360 Chicago; and another choice of: The Adler Planetarium or Art Institute of Chicago.
