Housed in a whimsical building designed by legendary architect Robert Venturi, 14 galleries (ranging from financial literacy and STEM to art, culture, social studies and more!) ignite curiosity and a passion for lifelong learning in children and their families. The Museum offers nearly 100 special events and performances year-round as well and has received visitors from every state in the U.S. and more than 75 countries. It won the 2024 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, is a four-time winner of Good Housekeeping’s “Best Family Travel Award” (2023 to 2026), was voted “Houston’s Best Museum” in Houston Chronicle’s Best of the Best Awards two years in a row (2023 and 2024), and was noted in the Tripadvisor “2024 Travelers’ Choice Awards.” Can your mind come out to play? ™

General Admission — Entry includes all exhibits, hands-on workshops, and educator-led science demos. (SECRET Spy Game is not included. To enter the Museum, your group must be accompanied by a child.)

Advice for Visitors

Tips

During the school year, visit on weekdays after 1:30pm. Visit in the morning during summer and on holidays for the quietest experience. Free Family Night takes place on Thursdays from 5-8pm and may be more crowded.

To get the full experience, allow about four to six hours for your visit. If you're short on time, don't miss Kidtropolis, USA, a city for kids, run by kids.

The Children’s Museum Houston is for the young and young-at-heart; however, exhibits are specifically designed for children from birth to age 12. To enter the Museum, your group must include a child.

All exhibits are in English and Spanish.

Check the Museum's event calendar to see what's planned on the day of your visit. Through Aug. 9, look for can't-miss happenings taking place during the “Party All Summer Long” celebration.

CityPASS was a vacation life saver!!

The BEST option for having fun around Houston
This is really the best option you´ve got. I had family visiting for a week and we decided to give it a try...it was totally worth it! The options available are on point, plus you get amazing discounts and coupons...all of this for a considerably lower price than you would if you paid for each option individually. So go for it!
