Atlanta Botanical Garden

Moore in America

May 2 – December 31, 2009

The Atlanta Botanical Garden will celebrate the opening of new green-designed facilities by hosting Moore in America, the largest outdoor exhibition of British artist Henry Moore’s sculptures ever presented in the United States.

From May 2 through December, Moore’s monumental bronze sculptures will be displayed throughout the Midtown garden, which this spring expands to include a new Visitor Center, additional parking and new and renovated gardens.

The exhibition of 20 sculptures, all on loan from The Henry Moore Foundation, was presented last year at The New York Botanical Garden and was ranked by Time magazine as one of the top 10 museum exhibitions in the country.

Considered the pre-eminent sculptor of the 20th century, Moore is best known for his massive abstract bronzes with subjects such as mother and child, reclining figures, organic forms and figures as landscapes. The grand opening weekend May 2-3 will include expert-guided tours of green facilities, hot-air balloon rides, scavenger hunts, bronze-pouring demonstrations, afternoon tea, cash bars and live entertainment.

Moore in America is included with CityPass admission. For more information on Moore in America, please visit Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Web site.
