Coffee in the Clouds.
My wife Jen and I took our first trip to Seattle for her second half-marathon. Rather, that was the excuse we used to get out of 115 degree Phoenix weather! We had booked our stay at The Moore Hotel in downtown Seattle, a historic hotel directly above the theatre of the same name. It was a beautifully maintained historic building, but being right above a busy 2nd Ave, it gave meaning to the phrase Sleepless in Seattle. We had only a few objectives while here, run the half-marathon, shop, eat, and try as many different coffee shops as possible (No big chains allowed!). A few of our favorite coffee shops: Bauhaus Coffee in Capitol Hill, Vita Cafe, also in Capitol Hill, and Cafe d'Arte in downtown, but the overall winner was Zeitgeist Coffee, also in downtown. In between cafes and restaurants (some faves: Linda's, Kell's, and Blue Moon in Fremont), we checked out some of the more popular tourist attractions around town, such as The Seattle Aquarium, Space Needle, EMP, a harbor tour, and the Woodland Park Zoo, all wonderfully made accessible and easy by CityPass, which was definitely one of the best purchases we made all trip. View of downtown Seattle from atop the Space Needle. Only blocks from The Moore Hotel was the famous Pikes Place Market.
