Spending the Holiday in Atlanta
My partner and I recently returned from Atlanta where we were visiting friends and family during the holidays. It was only my second time visiting this wonderful city and I am always shocked at how warm and hospitible Atlantians are. While there we were able to experience all this fine city has to offer thanks to CityPASS! Our raves of some of Atlanta's finest attractions even convinced some of our Georgia native friends to embrace their inner tourist and explore! As avid CNN watchers and coke drinkers, we couldnt wait to see the CNN studios and the World of Coke. We loved watching a live broadcast of the news at CNN and sampling the many cokes from around the world. Full from all of our soda drinking we headed over to the High to check out their fabulous exhibits on modern masters, including Matisse, Picasso, and Pollock. I also highly reccomend the Georgia aquarium--the largest aquarium in the world! I loved petting the sting rays and sharks and the dolphin show is not to be missed! If you plan on traveling you might want to consider renting a car, as it is the easiest way to get around! We played in the fountain at Centennial Park and reflected on the civil rights movement at MLK Center.
As for lodging, I love staying in Buckhead, where Lenox is a MUST if you love to shop! As for food, if you are a northerner like me Waffle House is your first stop for the best hashbrowns (make mine smothered) you'll ever have! Atlanta is a beautiful city, full of friendly people and deep history. I'm looking forward to my next trip, where Zoo Atlanta is already on my to-do list!
