Seattle CityPASS Reviews

Stupendous in Seattle!

By: Kirk Peters – Colorado Springs, Colorado

Date: September 22, 2009

As a middle-aged single guy, I've always loved to venture out to visit different parts of this wonderful country in which we live. From Boston to Miami to the Southwest and so much of my home state of Colorado, there's always been another place just waiting out there to be seen and enjoyed. But, the one corner of America I've been missing for all my life is The Great Northwest. I recently returned from a three-day whirlwind experience in Seattle, and I couldn't recommend more highly anyone who hasn't done so to visit this gem of a city and region. People of all ages and interests will enjoy the multitude of incredible experiences that Seattle has to offer. And purchasing a Seattle CityPass is a perfect way to do just that. It offered me a great value in checking out some of Seattle's great attractions at a fraction of the price that I would have paid to see them individually. At the top of my list of must-do activities, the Argosy Harbor Cruise was almost worth the $54 price tag of the CityPass by itself! It lasted one hour, but I felt it was more like two hours. The incredible views of the Seattle skyline, waterfront and bay, as well as the very informative narration of our cruise guide made for what turned out to be the highlight of my visit. I even made a friend with a person from Taiwan during the trip. The Seattle Aquarium is situated directly on the pier along Elliott Bay, and it is an interesting and educational look at the sealife associated with the region. The various seal and otter exhibits were notable, as was the huge Water Dome underwater aquarium. Of course, any trip to the Emerald City wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Seattle Space Needle....or --in the case of CityPass holders -- it would be TWO trips! If you do like I did (for optimal enjoyment), you'll make a daytime and then a nighttime trip up to the top of the Needle. First, you should get to the famous tower a bit before they open in the morning and you can "jump" to the front of the line (with your pre-purchased CityPass). This allows you to take in the full daytime view of this beautiful city and surrounding areas, before heading back to the tower later in the evening for your second visit. I went up after the dinner crowds had gone, eliminating any wait time in line and also enjoying the mesmerizing ambience of the city lights below without bumping into any large groups of spectators! I could continue describing additional fantastic experiences I was so fortunate to enjoy while taking in the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the Great Northwest city of Seattle, but I'll leave my story with this thought: If there ever were truth to the title of the famous movie "Sleepless In Seattle," I can vouch to that with certainty after my first-ever trip there. One could virtually go without sleep uncovering the seemingly endless possibilities of things to see and do, and the Seattle CityPass is great way of accomplishing that without the expense.
