Philadelphia’s National Constitution Center: Featuring Freedom Rising and Signers Hall
November is a whopping big month in politics. Presidential elections stir up strong feelings and opinions. What better time to examine and celebrate what “we the people” means? The National Constitution Center, one of five Philadelphia CityPass attraction tickets, is a vivid experience that brings to life the daring men, enduring principles and present-day effects of this powerful document. The National Constitution Center describes itself as America’s most interactive history museum. That means you get up-close to compelling information, in traditional and new-media ways. Begin at Freedom Rising, a stirring, live, state-of-the-art multimedia theater experience designed to connect you with the story of the United States Constitution. Directly. Unforgettably. With powerful voices, music and images. In Signers Hall, you will walk among life-size bronze statues that represent 42 men who met on September 17, 1787. Three men dissented; 39 bold souls signed. Ben Franklin is everyone’s favorite. Other exhibits bring you nose-to-nose with the rites of democracy. You can vote for the President, serve on a jury, decide landmark Supreme Court cases, and be sworn in as President of the United States. You’ll feel smarter, more patriotic, and ready to wave the flag.
The National Constitution Center is just two blocks from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall and is open every day of the year but three: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. Each month we spotlight a CityPass attraction. Click to read about previously featured attractions. |
