Lots of garbage on the streets. Is that problem getting any better? Re: Dirty 3:16am by kkyriakis on February 28th, 2013 My husband and I went to Philadelphia last November and we stayed in Old City, which is the Historic District of town and it was not dirty at all. The streets were clean and everything was very well maintained. We LOVED it. However, we left Old City to go try Pat's and Geno's famous steaks (which are right across the street from eachother) and that part of town was not that nice and looked a bit dirty. We also left Old City one night for a concert that was at a theatre that was about a 25 minute cab ride away and the route the cab driver took us through to get there, was seriously scary. It was just our luck that we got a rookie cab driver who didn't know his way around town quite yet and he took us through the dodgy route his GPS gave him. Thank goodness that the area where the theatre was located was a bit nicer, but not nearly as nice and as clean as the Historic District where we spent most of our trip. So I guess you could say that the areas of town that house the City's foundation, history, and tourist attractions is quite nice and clean. However, I can't say the same for the rest of the city.
