How do I get a CityPASS media comp?

Working journalists can fill out the online request form, which will be automatically submitted to our Public Relations Department. Be sure to provide complete information. Someone from the Public Relations Department will reply to your inquiry, typically within one to two business days.

With the approval of the respective attractions, CityPASS is happy to provide complimentary ticket booklets to credentialed journalists on assignment. Typically, CityPASS will provide two complimentary passes: one for the credentialed journalist and one for her/his guest. We regret that we cannot provide additional passes for other friends or family members.

Can I get Southern California CityPASS media comps?

The partner attractions in Southern California (Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood and SeaWorld San Diego) issue a limited number of Southern California CityPASS media comps per year. Journalists requesting passes must have a guaranteed media assignment and an assignment letter/email from their editor or publisher.

When submitting a request to the CityPASS Public Relations Department, please fill out the online request form completely. In a separate email to publicrelations@citypass.com include 1) your letter of assignment, 2) your story plan/focus, and 3) examples of at least two bylined travel articles published within the last 12 months. Note: Southern California media comp requests may take up to 30 days to review and process. The CityPASS Public Relations Department will contact you as soon as your request has been processed.

Can I get media comps for my entire family?

No. The CityPASS partner attractions limit the number of media comps to two passes per media research tour: one for the visiting journalist and one for a guest. Additional CityPASS ticket booklets for your travel party may be purchased online at CityPASS.com or at the first CityPASS attraction you visit.

Do you offer media comps for children?

All media comps are adult passes. However, children are welcome to use an adult CityPASS media comp if they are traveling with a working journalist.

Can you add the Alcatraz option to my San Francisco CityPASS media comp?

The CityPASS Public Relations Department is happy to contact Alcatraz Tours to request complimentary media tickets for working journalists. Alcatraz Tours reserves the right to approve/not approve any journalist’s request. As space is limited on the Alcatraz Tour boats, requests are sometimes denied because the preferred tour is already sold out.

Because the Alcatraz Tour option is only available when CityPASS ticket booklets are purchased on-site from Alcatraz Tours – and because all of the CityPASS media comps come from our main fulfillment office in another state – the Alcatraz Tour option cannot be pre-loaded onto any media comps.

Are there any blackout dates on which the passes cannot be used?

No. CityPASS ticket booklets may be activated (first used) on any day during the booklet’s validity window. (If the ticket booklets are for a contest or giveaway, the CityPASS Public Relations Department will let you know the validity window for the booklets. When first issued, passes are always valid for at least one year.) Note: Once activated (first used), the holder has nine consecutive days to use the remaining tickets inside the CityPASS booklets.

What’s the difference between a CityPASS media comp and a CityPASS promotional comp?

Media comps may be used only by credentialed media representatives. Media comps are stamped “Complimentary | Business Card Required.” Journalists may be asked to provide a business card or media credentials when presenting their CityPASS media comp at an attraction.

Promotional comps, which are not stamped “Business Card Required,” may be used for approved contests or giveaways. Contest winners who present a promotional comp at an attraction will not be asked to provide a business card.

Can I use the CityPASS media comp ticket booklets I received for a contest or giveaway?

No. Media comps are stamped “Complimentary | Business Card Required.” Any non-journalist attempting to use a CityPASS media comp may be turned away from an attraction if she/he cannot provide a business card or media credentials.

If you need CityPASS promotional comps, which are not stamped “Business Card Required,” for a contest or giveaway, contact the CityPASS Public Relations Department. Prior to issuing the promotional comps, the CityPASS Public Relations Department will contact the attractions for approval.

Can I get Southern California CityPASS media comps for a giveaway or promotion?

No. The Southern California CityPASS attraction partners do no allow promotional comps of this pass.

Can I donate my CityPASS media comp ticket booklets for a charitable fund-raiser or auction?

No. Media comps cannot be resold or auctioned. CityPASS media comps are stamped “Complimentary | Business Card Required.” Any non-journalist who attempts to use a CityPASS media comp may be turned away from an attraction if she/he cannot provide a business card or media credentials.

CityPASS ticket booklets are not available for charitable fund-raisers or auctions. The attractions, which retain legal ownership of the tickets inside each CityPASS ticket booklet, do not allow CityPASS to provide booklets for such purposes. Instead, they ask that all charitable requests go directly to their charitable giving departments.

Can I bundle promotional comps into family packs of four or more?

The agreements CityPASS has with the attractions stipulate that promotional comps always should be given away in pairs (two ticket booklets per contest winner). However, in some cases, the attractions will approve more passes per winner. The CityPASS Public Relations Department can take special requests to the attractions for approval.

Can you ship my media comps internationally?

CityPASS can ship media comps to your home or business address in the United States or Canada. International journalists – as well as journalists from the United States and Canada – can choose to have their CityPASS media comps delivered directly to their U.S. or Canadian hotel. Our fulfillment office will schedule the passes to arrive at your hotel a day or two before you check in.
