Our "Mishap" Honeymoon Adventure in Chicago!
We're MARRIED!!! My husband Marcos and I (Dana) got married and decided to spend our honeymoon adventure in the beautiful windy city of Chicago! We kicked off the very early morning following our wedding to make it to Chicago as soon as we could. We booked a flight for 7:15am so we could squeeze everything we could out of the three days we would be there. We get to the airport early, check in, go through security, I got stopped to do the body search because the millions of bobby pins from my "wedding hair" sent of the alarm. Once we got through that, it was time for us to wait for our flight.

Turns out another flight to Dallas was leaving out of the gate WE were supposed to be leaving out of... AND at the same time. We look at eachother, "No way, something's not right." Marcos lets me sit and relax while he finds out what's going on. The first person he talks to says, "Oh yes, that flight it probably right after this one." We still feel like something is not right. Then after talking to 4 completely different people at 4 different areas in the airport, someone points out that the flight on our ticket says 7:15PM. PM!

During the planning process we split the "To Do" list for the wedding. Part of his "to do" list... plan and arrange the honeymoon. :)

From that moment we go back to the airline counter and switch flights to the next earliest flight that ends up being at 11:30am We now have a few hours to hang out at the airport before we can get to Chicago.

Some of you may be wondering, "Wow, what a great start to their marriage" or "Man, he sure is screwing it up already" or "Oooooo she's gotta be REAL mad!" You're right in that it WAS a great start to our marriage. Yes, he made a mistake but that's what makes it an incredible story! I was upset for maybe 5 seconds and then after that I couldn't help but laugh!

We get on the plane and on our way to where we need to be. We're excited and it's showing all over! We became friends with the stuartist, we told her we were on our honeymoon and she ended up bringing us two glasses and champagne that we could save for later!

We finally make it to Chicago, so glad to finally arrive and can't wait to get to our hotel and get some of that famous Deep Dish Pizza!! We get to the airport... my lovely husband doesn't have directions to the hotel where we were supposed to be and he didn't have the phone number. The phone number. Nothing. At this point, yes, I do get a little frustrated but I again look at it as just another "mishap" that is going to make our honeymoon story THAT much better!

Marcos gets on the phone calling 411 and is redirected 3 times to different Holiday Inns around "the area" that he remembered where we booked our hotel. We find out how to get there and ask around to get quickly familiar with the bus system so we can get to our hotel.

We finally FINALLY make it to our hotel! We're tired, so excited to be there and ready to get back out to explore Chicago. Our first day we walked around, made our way to Niketown, Garmin - we just had to, my husband works at Garmin Headquarters. Our first dinner... the AMAZINGLY huge and delicious deep dish pizza at Giordanos!

We couldn't believe how huge the slices were and we devoured every piece we could. As our day out was coming to a close, we decided to do a little research about Chicago and came across the City Pass. Best decision we could have made for our trip!

We were thrilled about all the places we were able to go and see with the City Pass, we definitely wouldn't have been able to do all those things without it. Not only were the places incredible but having the City Pass enable us to jump to the front of every line which then helped us maximize the one day we had to see everything the City Pass had to offer.

We went to the Shedd Aquarium as our first stop and caught the Aquatic Show.

It was amazing! We had a great host and the animals were amazingly trained. It was incredible to see the relationship between the animals and their trainers. My favorite part was when we got to see the Penguins! I love Penguins!

We only had the day so we had to keep moving. We made our way to the field museum, the the skydeck and to John Handcock Observatory. In between visiting those places we were able to see "the Bean" and the Maryln Monroe statue. We took a water taxi over to the skydeck, it was amazing! These places are each unique to Chicgao, letting you see a different part of the city and learn so much more about where Chicago used to be and how it got to where it is today.

Having the City Pass to explore Chicago is something we would recommend for any kind of traveler, even if just for a day.

We had a great time, love the city and are working on planing our next trip back! Thanks so much to the "City Pass" for making our honeymoon decision more than worth it!
