Museum of Fine Arts, BostonThe Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BCOctober 18, 2009 - May 16, 2010
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Harvard University—Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition
In 1915, archaeologists form the MFA uncovered a 30-foot-deep shaft leading to the largest Middle Kingdom burial assemblage ever found. Shown together for the first time in 4,000 years, among the tomb’s contents are four beautifully painted coffins--one regarded as Egypt’s masterpiece of panel painting, a fleet of miniature boats, dozens of wooden models of the activities of a governor’s estate, and the severed, but wrapped and painted head of one of the tomb’s occupants. This fascinating exhibition will unlock the secrets of Tomb 10A and allow you to experience the afterlife as imagined by ancient Egyptians. Admission to The Secrets of Tomb 10A: Egypt 2000 BC is included with your CityPass ticket. Please visit the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Web site for more detailed information. |
