Eastern State Penitentiary

Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, Eastern State Penitentiary stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and a surprising, eerie beauty. Tours include Al Capone’s cell, Death Row and critically-acclaimed artist installations.

EASTERN STATE PENITENTIARY ADMISSION USING CITYPASS INCLUDES:

One Eastern State Penitentiary general admission during normal hours of operation; children under age 7 cannot be admitted.

HOW TO ENTER WITH YOUR CITYPASS TICKET:

Present booklet or e-ticket at the main Ticket Office.

GATE PRICE (WITHOUT CITYPASS):

$12.00 for adults, $8.00 for youth. (See full price comparison for details.)

INSIDER TIPS:

Dress comfortably (it’s essentially an outdoor tour), wear walking shoes, and don’t forget your camera! ESP, as insiders call it, may be the most photogenic place you see in years!
Children under the age of seven (7) cannot be admitted. There is a small museum, which includes a 50-minute video presentation, in the penitentiary’s welcome center. There is no charge to access this area and supervised children under the age of seven may wait here with an adult while the rest of their party is touring the site.

HOURS:

Open daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; last entry at 4 p.m.; open Wednesdays in June, July and August until 8 p.m. for Summer Twilight Tours (first come, first serve and no reservations accepted); closed Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve Day and New Year's Day.
