Zoo
Atlanta
Your Atlanta CityPASS Zoo Atlanta admission ticket also includes an All Rides wristband.
Giant Pandas
Giant pandas Lun Lun and Yang Yang – and their second offspring, Xi Lan – are world-famous. The sweet-faced pandas are a huge draw for Zoo visitors.
Zoo Atlanta is one of only four U.S. zoos with giant pandas and is an international center of excellence for the care and study of this beloved endangered species.
Have fun watching a panda tuck into a lunch of tasty bamboo.
The Ford African Rain Forest: Meet the Gorillas
Home to the nation’s largest collection of western lowland gorillas, the Ford African Rain Forest is a series of lush naturalistic habitats housing more than 20 gorillas in individual family groups.
Prepare to spend some time here. Gorillas are among the Zoo’s most popular and engaging residents. Outdoor viewing is available from several vantage points; indoor viewing is available from the Willie B. Gorilla Conservation Center.
Within the Rain Forest, you'll also see lemurs from Madagascar and a variety of monkeys, including the endangered Drill monkey.
Boundless Budgies: A Parakeet Adventure
Mingle with the local color — more than 500 free-flying parakeets. This dynamic aviary is the largest of its kind in the Southeast.
Boundless Budgies offers the Zoo’s closest contact with wildlife. The parakeets fly freely around their habitat, often interacting with visitors. Guests may hand-feed the parakeets specially-prepared seed sticks; $1 a piece.
African Plains
The African Plains Exhibit is a naturalistic series of habitats, featuring animals of the African savanna. Though all seem familiar – many from as far back as our childhood books – all remain exotic and a pleasure to see in their own environments.
You may spot giraffe, lions, black rhinos, warthogs and meerkats.
The World of Reptiles – Slither and Swim
Zoo Atlanta is home to one of the nation’s largest diversities of reptiles and amphibians. There are native and exotic snakes, lizards, turtles and tree frogs — many of them critically endangered.
Have we mentioned that Zoo Atlanta animals roam naturalistic outdoor habitats, and visitors walk a protected path? The World of Reptiles is a cool, indoor contrast to the savannas of Africa and rain forests of Asia.
Zoo Experts Host Live Shows
The most enthusiastic folks at the Zoo are the people who work there. They’re eager to tell you interesting things about the animals in their care.
Check your zoo map for show listings. Visit zooatlanta.org for information on seasonal schedules so you can plan in advance. Here are a few of the Zoo’s staff programs you may want to check out:
- Wildlife Theater, Animal Superstars (thrilling flights and animal training demonstrations)
- Amy's Tree Theater Amazing Animal Shows
- Keeper Talks in the elephant, giant panda and other areas (daily)
- Feeding time in the gorilla, orangutan and other areas
Zoo Atlanta Train and Rides
Riding the train is a Zoo favorite for Atlantas and out-of-town visitors. The Georgia Natural Gas Blue Flame Express Train, a handcrafted replica of an 1963 locomotive, circles the Zoo’s perimeter and provides an easy overview.
Your All Rides wristband — included with CityPASS — allows access to the Nabisco Endangered Species Carousel, Rock Climber, a 24-foot-high rock wall, and a bounce house. Some rides are weather-permitting.
Kid-size Zoo Moments
The scale is kid-size, and animals are small and friendly at the Outback Station Petting Zoo. Young visitors can get up-close-and-personal with Kunekune pigs, Gulf Coast sheep and dwarf goats.
KIDZone is a perfect place for kids to burn off that extra energy. They can enjoy Wild Like Me indoor play space, an outdoor playground, and a play area where they’re invited to “tunnel and play the mole rat way.”
How to enter using your CityPASS ticket: Present booklet or e-ticket at the Main Admission gate or Express Entry gate. Note: Express Entry lines are usually shorter.
