Ride the Bus, Save Mega Bucks

February 18, 2012 By CityPASS

This article was written by Ashley Fenton of Development Counsellors International (DCI), the leader in marketing places. After a recent visit to Philadelphia, she was inspired to write about affordable ways to travel to CityPASS® destinations this winter.

Money is on everybody's mind these days — mainly, using less of it. Of course, CityPASS® ticket users are wallet-conscious travelers anyway, but we all want more ideas on how to save some while traveling.

Flight prices are sky rocketing (no pun intended!), gas prices are exorbitant and trains are by no means a cheap, alternative transportation method. The bus, however, is an affordable, easy alternative option. Now, I know what you're thinking...bus rides are uncomfortable, filled with questionable characters and unreliable. If you are—STOP! Bus transportation is undergoing a strong revitalization, particularly among the Generation Y'ers. Below are some great bus options worth considering:

The BoltBus has direct service in Northeast cities, including: New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. And, if you book at least a few days in advance, you can find tickets for as little as $13. BoltBus is equipped with WiFi and extra leg room for a comfortable and entertaining travel experience.

Another fantastic bus service is MegaBus. MegaBus offers direct service from a variety of cities in North America. You can catch the bus in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, New York City or Toronto. And yes, MegaBus offers incredibly low prices. Travelers can book a ticket from Toronto to Philadelphia for a mere $27. Flights from Toronto to Philly are $200-plus! A bus from New York City to Philadelphia is as low as $10 and only a two-hour trip.

Enjoy the amazing attractions our great country offers—with CityPASS® tickets in hand! Thrill seekers can enjoy the adrenaline rush from the top of the Empire State Building; discover America's spectacular history and heritage at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia; and unleash their inner artist at Boston's Museum of Fine Arts…plus experience many more jaw-dropping and enriching attractions.

Don't let soaring prices and a struggling economy stop you from seeing and discovering the amazing gift of travel. As American icon Mark Twain articulated so famously: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sail. Explore. Dream. Discover."

What are you waiting for? Grab your CityPASS® tickets, hop on a bus and get out there! Remember - Save Money, Have Fun.
